The story of My Resilient Family began 20 years ago when its Principal and Founder, Rachel Munns, experienced a close member of her family suffering a major breakdown due to stress at work.
A number of years later she then witnessed both her husband and her young son going through extremely tough times for other mental health-related reasons. There was little or no practical support available from the health authorities, and a lot of misinformation and lack of proper guidance or support online. She felt helpless and frustrated that she could not be the mother and wife that she wanted to be, and made it her mission to put things right.
Rachel asked a couple of simple questions:
Where can I go to get the right level of understanding so I can recognise and overcome the causes of stress in my own life and in my kids?
What options and strategies are open to me that will actually work, and that I can sensibly fit into my busy life?
Rachel was already an experienced presenter and trainer, so used her professional and lived experience to create ‘The Circus of Life’. This comprehensive and engaging workshop became hugely popular in schools and businesses, delivering excellent results and feedback from adults and young people alike.
A follow- up workshop, ‘The Best of You’, built on the skills learned in ‘The Circus of Life’ and has also been very successful in furthering personal development once the mental health issues have been resolved.
Now, Rachel and her husband Tony have launched My Resilient Family, so that these proven workshops, resources and experience can be shared with parents and teachers around the world.
From their home in Rutland, UK, they are dedicated to helping other parents and children become less stressed, happier and more resilient people.
